The Panasonic TX-P42X10 is a top choice for those who are looking for a large screen for watching movies or playing video games. However, it is also a great choice for those who do not have a lot of money to spend but also want to get the most out of the advantages of a higher end home entertainment system.

Unlike many competing products on the market, this is not actually an LCD screen. Rather, the Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10 is a plasma screen which is a completely different type of technology. Plasma screens have a number of advantages over LCD, most notably that they don’t have a limited viewing angle as many LCD screens have.

The deciding factor in the Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10 for many people is its refresh rate. The refresh rate of a screen is very important because the higher it is, the higher the frame rate can be which means smoother playback and it’s going to be much easier and your eyes. The Panasonic TX-P42X10 has refresh rate of 100 Hz which is twice as much as what you will find on many other competing products.

Since it is only just above the budget range of large flat screen televisions, you don’t get some are the features that you’ll find in models which are much more expensive. While the Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10 is ready to play all the latest high definition content, it does not have the highest resolution to playback the latest Bluray disks at their native resolution. Nonetheless, this is very unlikely to be a problem for anyone but the most demanding of consumers.

Although the Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10 does not look like anything special from the outside and it is rather bulky even for a screen of its size, it does have some very attractive options which makes up for it. Picture processing techniques are all the rage these days and most flat screens have advanced picture processing techniques built in. This includes Panasonic’s highly respected and well known technology which allows the screen to be more versatile by automatically altering the contrast settings depending on the ambient light in the room.

Another very welcome feature to the TX-P42X10 in addition to all its normal connectivity options that you would expect, is the addition of an SD card reader. This means that you can simply take the SD card out of any digital camera, slot it into the screen and view your images immediately without having to worry about messing around with any cables.

If you are short on space, and don’t want to buy an extra speaker system, then the Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10 already has a pretty respectable sound system built in, however in spite of this, if at all possible, you should upgrade to a midrange 5. 1 surround system to get the most out of your movie watching experience.

The Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10 performs pretty well all round. It has all the features you would expect and providing the price is reasonable, it is a great choice and definitely considerably better than many competing products so it is worth consideration.

One of the numerous products in Panasonic’s range of entry level flat screen televisions, the Panasonic TX-P42X10 is a great product all round with a number of features that you often find in a much more expensive models. Unfortunate though, some people are going to be put off by some are the compromises that it appears to make in terms of quality.

Firstly, it is important to dispel some of the myths which you will hear from sales people when it comes to flat screen televisions. While of course you want something that is future proof as possible, and something that will play high definition video these days, you do not need something that is full high definition.

This screen is not full HD, meaning that while you can play any content currently on the market at the moment, you will not have play back in full 1080p. The reality of the matter is though, that this is not necessarily a problem. While this is a large screen, with a diagonal viewing area of 42 inches, few people even notice a great deal of difference in resolution.

It is also important to realise the resolution is not the only thing which governs the quality of playback on TVs such as the TX-P42X10. Many people make this mistake of thinking that the resolution is the only thing that is important, especially when it comes to television screens and digital cameras etc.

What’s more, the vast majority of people today still do not have a large collection of high quality full high definition movies and still have their large collections of older DVD discs. With any older content, use anywhere notice any difference at all regardless of the resolution of the screen. However, of course you want something that is future proof, especially if you are spending this sort of money.

Another thing that might put people off the screen is the fact that it is plasma rather than LCD. However, players are actually has a number of advantages over traditional LCD screens, most notably the fact that the viewing angle issue is not found in plasma screens.

Plasma an LCD should not be confused as they deploy completely different forms of technology. Plasma, in which the screen is constructed of ionised gases behind the glass cover, is very different between the liquid crystal solution that you find an LCD screens. As a result, picture quality is not necessarily better in either one, but they are considerably different. Which when you go for depends on your personal choice.

The Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10 comes with decent stereo speakers built in and a FreeView tuner. However, it is strongly advisable to buy a separate set of speakers such as a 5. 1 surround sound set since they don’t cost a lot extra and half with the experience of watching the movie is having great sound as well.

All the features that you actually need of built into this set including the possibility to connect your computer and a number of other accessories and peripherals. It does not come with anything fancy, but then for the asking price of around 600 pounds, you can’t complain.

You will find many good reviews on this television by looking online.

So your family is ready for another TV, you’re seriously considering the Panasonic TX-P42X10, but you’re not really sure what kind of TV you want to buy? Do you want a big screen TV, or do you want a smaller screen size? LCD or Plasma that’s another choice you’re going to have to decide on.

You can read this article for some tips that could help with your TV buying. It gives some rather simple ways to cut down the choices that you will be faced with. In the end you will be left with a new TV in your home and less money in your pocket.

That’s why when you plan to get a TV you need to set a budget. Don’t set some sort of budget that is going to stick you with one or two choices either. If you don’t have enough money for a decent TV, save until you have more money. Make a limit that you need to get to, and start looking around.

Now what size of screen do you want, this is of course going to be related to how much money you can spend too. Obviously if the cheapest big screen you can find in town is £1000, then if your budget isn’t that high, that choice is out.

Are you hoping to get a plasma TV? Or does it not matter and you can get an LCD? Whichever one you like you will need to decide. If you’re not sure read up on both types, doing this will give you the benefits and disadvantages of each choice. Maybe by doing that you can find a great price on a TV too and not even need to use the whole budget you’ve had set.

Picking a brand name is not required anymore. It used to be in order to get a good product you couldn’t go with anyone but a name you’ve always heard of. So many small companies are putting out TVs that are just as good if not better when you look at the price and the TV together. Make sure that as you are looking you are getting several choices to look into a little bit more.

Do you feel that you have a small room where your TV is going into? Than look into mounting the TV either on the ceiling or wall. This will save you on the floor space and make the room actually look bigger than what it is.

Finally, when you have figured out the above and created a list that is within those parameters, you need to read the reviews. Read more than one review though, that way you will see several opinions of the TV and learn whether it is indeed a good product. Sometimes you may find one in 20 reviews that list a problem. That’s not too bad, it’s when you see a majority of bad reviews listed for the same product that you want to move on to another choice. Remember everyone can have a mistake once in a while, but all the time, that’s not a good TV to buy.

Most people will have heard the term “widescreen TV” when TV buying. They will know that the screen of a TV such as the Panasonic TX-P42X10 is wider, but may not be entirely sure what else it means. Here we aim to introduce you to the term and give you an idea of the benefits of buying a widescreen TV.

What is widescreen TV?
The screen aspect ratio of a traditional TV is 4:3, which means that for every 40cm long the screen is, it will be 30cm high.
What a widescreen TV essentially does is to stretch this out, giving a screen aspect ratio of 16:9 – so for every 16cm long the screen is, it will only be 9cm high instead of 12cm. You can think of it as kind of like a panoramic photograph, where the picture is the same height, but longer than a normal photo.

Benefits of a Widescreen TV

 1. Viewing Experience
The main benefit to having a widescreen TV is that it offers a better viewing experience for the consumer. When images are shot in widescreen, viewing the footage on a widescreen TV allows the viewer to see a much wider angle, showing more of the surrounding scenery. This generally makes viewing more realistic. For example in fight scenes or other action scenes, you view the entire sequence in one shot rather than as a series of close ups and panned camera shots. This makes it more like viewing a fight right in front of you for real.
 2. More Widescreen Shows
More and more TV shows are also now being shot in widescreen, which means that if you look for widescreen when TV buying you are also putting yourself in a better position for the coming years to view these shows as they should be seen.
 3. No Extra Cost
Widescreen TVs overall offer a better viewing experience, and often cost no more than a conventional screen. Many other models which are not specifically widescreen also have the option to view the picture in widescreen built in.

Before buying a big screen plasma TV you need to consider the space available. For comfortable viewing, you should be far enough away. Your room needs to be big enough. A small room is no place for a big screen television. How far away you need to be depends on the size of the screen. For a 55”, you should be about 15” away.

Your room layout is an important factor for comfortable viewing. How well can you see the screen on an angle? The first big screens were projection TVs, seeing from an angle was impossible. Technology has advanced. That is not much of an issue with today’s plasma. But it is still more comfortable to watch from a head on point of view.

Plasma technology is made up of nearly a million different individual pixel cells. Each pixel cell is fundamentally an individual infinitesimal florescent light bulb, receiving instruction from software contained on the rear electrostatic silicon board. Close examination of a plasma screen will reveal each individual pixel cell coloration of the primary colors used to make the full spectrum of colors. Creating a fuller, richer overall appearance.

Plasma manufacturers have overcome the earlier problems of awkward viewing angles. Creating a screen that allows a viewer to comfortably watch the TV from almost any angle. This was made possible by creating pixels that produce its own light, rather than having light spread across the screen from one central source. Therefore, each pixel shines out more evenly with every other pixel creating a consistent brightness, making the picture quality supreme.

The high definition is compatible with today’s digital technology. With a new plasma TV you don’t need a special decoder. It is already built into the software. You can sit back in your recliner and enjoy the high quality, high definition picture. With the new digital quality, a plasma TV will make viewing a pleasure.

Twin-tuners and an SD card-reader are nice touches. The slim TX-P42X10 (sometimes called the Panasonic TX-P42X10B ) is nicely finished and the on-screen menus work well. A rather cheap looking, although very easy to use, remote lets the show down very slightly.

The entire displayed colour palette is convincingly neutral, and the plasma technology gives great, deep, satisfying black tones.

The excellent TX-P42X10B is a great plasma TV for a remarkable price.
